Making the World a Better Place
Each February (since 2011) we go from hitting the books to hitting nails in Raleigh, North Carolina through our alternative spring break program with Habitat for Humanity and AmeriCorps. While enjoying time off from school, we make a difference volunteering alongside future homeowner families and learning about poor living conditions and how decent, affordable housing builds strength, stability and self-reliance for those families.
This unique one-week volunteer program runs from Monday-Saturday night, and culminates at Duke University’s Hillel for Shabbat services, dinner and reflection on all that we’ve learned over the course of the week. Alternative spring break allows us to travel, meet new people and feel the satisfaction of working to improve a community — and lives.
- Who: 11th &12th Graders (or anyone who will be 16+ by February 19, 2018)
- What: An amazing opportunity to spend a week building homes during the day and going on fun excursions in the evening.
- When: February 19-24, 2018
- Where: Raleigh, NC
- How Much: $875* includes airfare, accommodation, evening activities and meals for the week. Deposit ($400) due at time of registration, remainder due by January 19, 2018.
No experience is needed to volunteer. While we have lots of fun at Habitat, please remember that it is a working/volunteering trip. If you’re not interested in doing significant work, please do not take a slot from someone who is excited to work hard.
